A Mini Newsletter from Your
Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation

June 2020

Getting outside and staying active has a ton of health benefits, both physical and mental. Get some sunshine and get your blood pumping while being safe, by following guidelines for parks and trails use.

Currently all park restrooms and drinking fountains are closed, but you can still enjoy Evansville's beautiful parks, trails, tennis courts, and basketball courts safely! Get some ideas and instruction from online resources, go for a walk or hike, or join a challenge on social media, or check out one of our outdoor, socially distanced park programs. You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter for fun activities, or information on a park or trail you may not have known about before! You can also check out our Youtube channel for workouts, as well as other recreational videos.

Stimulate your body and your mind by getting out in nature, breathing some fresh air, and enjoying our beautiful city while staying safe.

Come enjoy some live music in the park, sponsored by the Parks Foundation! Bands have not been announced yet, but you can mark your calendars for a beautiful evening in a local park this summer.

Work your way up to 10,000 steps in 30 days! Start small and gradually build your stamina using this guide. 10,000 steps is approximately 5 miles. If you don't have a pedometer to count steps, you can use the formula 10 minutes=1,000 steps to help calculate your steps and achieve your goal!
Can you find everything in this scavenger hunt while on your walk or visit to a local park?
